SHM Announces Clinic Downsizing Impacting Patients in Williamson and Travis County

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Leander, Texas - Samaritan Health Ministries (SHM), a safety net clinic that has

collaborated with volunteers and community partners to serve the marginalized

communities, has officially announced it will downsize medical staff, reduce clinic

hours, and temporarily pause dental operations, effective Friday, April 21, 2023.

Over the last 18 months, the organization has been experiencing financial challenges

due to many factors related to the changing economy. SHM has taken several steps to

reduce costs where possible and explored all options. Unfortunately, a layoff is

necessary in light of an uncertain economic outlook.

Due to the lack of funding and donations, operational hours will be greatly reduced,

eliminating evening and Saturday appointments. The clinic will remain open

Monday-Thursday, 8am-4pm. Current patients with appointments impacted by the

cancellation of operational hours and services are being asked to call the clinic to

reschedule and receive recommended resources available for their continued care.

SHM knows this news will profoundly impact our organization, those we serve, and our

community. It is with heavy hearts and great regret that we make this announcement.

After 25+ years of service, Samaritan Health Ministries remains committed to our

mission to provide high quality, affordable health and wellness services that support

healthy living among uninsured families in Williamson and Travis Counties.

To make a donation to support SHM, visit theshm.org or call the clinic at (512) 331-5828.
