COVID-19: Coronavirus
A message to our patients and families at Samaritan Health Ministries:
WE ARE OPEN!
That being said, we are implementing some changes to our procedures to ensure all patient safety, as well as staff and volunteers
during the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Our knowledge and response to the Coronavirus is changing rapidly, thus these procedures may change daily. Please continue to visit the website (http://www.theshm.org) to see any new changes we are implementing. We are following recommendations from the Centers for Disease and Control Prevention (CDC), the Texas Department of State Health Services (TSHS), and World Health Organization (WHO).
First, please call the clinic (512-331-5828) prior to coming into the clinic for any reason including appointments, screening, or medication pick up. We will screen you over the phone and determine your need for coming into the clinic. We ask that patients wait in their car until they are called into the clinic for their appointment. Therefore, if you will have someone dropping you off, please ask them not to leave until you are called into the clinic. We are trying to practice social distancing, which requires people be 6 feet apart to minimize transmission. Please limit family members that come with you, unless they are your translator.
Second, although we DO NOT have the ability to test patients at the clinic at this time, please call the clinic if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms: fever, cough, or shortness of breath. If we do receive testing supplies, we will gladly test you if you meet the criteria. Testing is offered through the health department if you meet specific criteria. We will refer you there if we feel it is necessary.
You will be screened every time you enter the clinic for any current symptoms such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, recent travel or recent contact with anyone who has been ill or traveled. If you have symptoms, we will decide if an appointment is necessary in the clinic or over the phone. If your appointment is in the clinic, you will be required to wear a mask throughout the visit.
We will be starting to implement these new procedures today. Please, be patient as we determine best practices to keep the community safe. If you have further questions about COVID-19, we have attached some information including how to best protect yourself, but please feel free to access the website for the CDC https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html. Please continue to check our website for current clinic updates.
Thank you,
Your Samaritan Health Ministries Team
